Add water to a bowl and heat it to about 110 degrees F. That’s basically just warm water - not hot and not cold.
Add yeast and whisk together. Set the bowl aside.
Next, grab a large bowl, and mix together the flour, sugar, and salt.
Pour the water-yeast mixture to the flour mix, and stir until a dough forms — you may need to add another tablespoon or so of water, but you want that dough to be nice and thick and not too sticky!
Sprinkle some flour to a countertop, and divide the dough into 8 pieces.
Roll the dough into eight ropes.
Slice the dough into 1-inch piece.
Lightly spray the basket of the air fryer with oil of choice.
Place pretzel bites into the basket, giving them enough room to expand. Brush them with melted butter.
Cook for 7 minutes at 400 degrees F, or until lightly browned on top.
Remove from air fryer, and once slightly cooled, transfer them to a plate.
Brush them once more with remaining butter and sprinkle pretzel salt on top.
