These Quick Sticky Chicken Thighs get seared in a hot skillet and finished with a soy, maple, and hoisin glaze that turns glossy and caramelized right in the pan. They’re juicy, a little sweet, a little tangy, and ready in about 20 minutes. Serve them over steamed rice with your favorite veggie for an easy dinner!
Start by patting the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and adding them to a large bowl. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the low sodium soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, and toasted sesame oil until smooth.
Pour about three-quarters of the marinade over the chicken and toss until every piece is well coated. Set the remaining quarter aside for later, since it becomes your glaze.
Next, heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. You don’t need any oil, but the pan needs to be very hot before the chicken goes in. Add the chicken in a single layer and don’t touch it for 5 minutes. If everything doesn’t fit without crowding, work in batches and split the reserved marinade between them.
Flip the chicken, then pour the reserved marinade into the pan. Let it cook undisturbed for another 5 minutes, until the sauce bubbles and thickens around the chicken and the thickest part of each thigh reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
Transfer the chicken to a plate, spoon any glaze left in the pan over the top, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if you’d like. Serve over steamed rice with a veggie, and enjoy!
