There are very few pastries that are more luxurious and delicious than the chocolate croissant. Think: flaky layers of buttery pastry cocooning a beautiful, smooth, chocolatey paste. What could be better than that? These 3-Ingredient Mini Nutella Croissants are a simple and easy way to get a delicious croissant at home, without spending hours tending to complicated pastry dough. I've teamed up with my friend Sneji at The Modern Nonna for this recipe that is truly perfect for breakfast, dessert, or any time of day!
- 1 Sheet Puff Pastry thawed and cut into triangles
- ½ Cup Nutella or substitute a chocolate hazelnut spread
- 1 Egg beaten
- 1 Tablespoon Powdered Sugar optional; for dusting the finished croissants with
Start by preheating your oven to 350 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Next, gently unwrap your puff pastry and place it onto a lightly floured countertop or surface.
Using a pastry cutter or pizza cutter, cut your puff pastry into triangles. Follow the directions in the video if you are unsure how to cut them!
Then, add 1-2 tablespoons of Nutella (or chocolate-hazelnut spread) to each triangle and gently roll it up.
Place your rolled croissants onto your baking sheet, then brush the tops of them with your egg wash.
Finally, bake them for 20 minutes, or until they're golden brown.
Once they're done, remove them from the oven, dust them with powdered sugar, and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to one week.
