Friends, if you’ve never tried Drunken Strawberries before, then let me introduce to to their magic. They are juicy and ripe strawberries marinated in a mixture of Prosecco and vodka. The sweet and effervescent Prosecco pairs perfectly with the fresh and juicy strawberries while the vodka adds a touch of spirit to the mix. This delightful treat is not only delicious but it is also low in sugar, thanks to using monk fruit sweetener instead of traditional sugar.

Monk fruit sweetener is a natural sugar substitute made from the extract of the monk fruit. It is a low-calorie sweetener that does not affect blood sugar levels and is a great alternative for people who are looking to cut back on sugar or are watching their sugar intake. It also provides the perfect amount of sweetness to the strawberries without overwhelming them. Think of this recipe as having all of the delightfulness of a sweet Valentine’s Day treat, just made a little bit healthier!

These strawberries are the perfect Valentine’s Day party treat, or a sweet after-dinner delight. I’ll be serving them for dessert after making my Simple Lemon Garlic Pasta, for a truly unbeatable meal!

4 Ingredients to Make These Delicious Drunken Strawberries

You only need 4 ingredients to make these strawberries! It truly couldn’t be any easier.

    • Strawberries: Of course, you’ll need strawberries in order to make this recipe! The fresher the strawberries, the better, so that they’re nice and sweet.
    • Prosecco: When I think of Valentine’s Day, I think of Prosecco. This sweet champagne makes the perfect accompaniment to these strawberries!
    • Vodka: A splash of vodka truly takes these Drunken Strawberries to the next level.
    • Monk Fruit Sweetener or Granulated Sugar: To keep this recipe lighter and low on sugar, I like using monk fruit sweetener. However, this recipe also works well with traditional granulated sugar!

The first step to making these Drunken Strawberries is to let your strawberries “marinate” overnight in the Prosecco and vodka

How to Make This Simple & Easy Valentine’s Day Treat

To make these delicious Drunken Strawberries, start by rinsing your strawberries well and adding them into a bowl. Next, pour your Prosecco and vodka over the strawberries, being sure to fully coat them. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid, and place it in the fridge for a minimum of four hours, or up to overnight, so the alcohol can soak into the strawberries. Don’t skip this step!

Once your Drunken Strawberries have had time to marinate, then it’s time to coat them in the monk fruit sweetener or sugar!

Once your strawberries are done, drain the liquid from the bowl, but don’t throw it away – you can drink it! Finally, toss your monk fruit sweetener or granulated sugar into the bowl and mix until the strawberries are well coated in the sugar. You can also place the monk fruit sweetener or sugar into a bowl and roll each strawberry into the sugar, in order to get a more “clean” coat.

Once done, serve and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to one week.
