This Grilled Salmon with Mango Salsa is one of the easiest and most flavorful ways to prepare salmon! I have had so many requests for savory dishes, and the reason why I don’t share as many savory dishes is because I live and breathe sweets. But don’t let that deter you from making my savory recipes. They are equally bad ass and equally delicious as all my baked goods!

To prepare the salmon, you have options. You can grill it on an outdoor grill, which I absolutely love to do during the summer months. You get those nice grill marks and that fresh grilled taste that is just OH. SO. GOOD. But if you don’t want to bother with the grill, the next best way to make the salmon is in a cast iron skillet. If you are going that route, just be sure that your skillet is oiled well and nice and hot before adding the salmon. Why? Because you want that nice, crispy salmon!

If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, no problem. You can also bake the salmon in the oven. If you are going this route, just line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and line up the salmon filets. Bake at 375 for about 12-14 minutes, until the salmon is done to your liking.

    See? You’ve got options!

And if you need more options, I’m here to tell you that this mango salsa goes so well on top of flaky white fishes too! So if salmon isn’t your think, you might want to give halibut or sea bass a go.

As far as the mango salsa goes, its fresh and healthy and a nice way to turn ordinary fish into something extraordinary. Don’t forget to experiment with the ingredients and adjust anything to your specific taste buds.

I hope you guys love this recipe, and if you make it, be sure to leave a comment for me below and tag me on Instagram so I can repost!

    Ingredients

    Grilled Salmon:
    • 4 4-6 ounce filets of salmon
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon chili powder
    • 1 lime, juiced
    • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
    Mango Salsa:
    • 1 cucumber, diced
    • 1 mango, diced
    • ½ cup cilantro, chopped
    • ½ jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
    • 1 garlic clove, mashed
    • ½ cup red onion, chopped
    • 1 lime, juiced
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

    1. First, prepare the salsa.
    2. Chop all of the salsa ingredients listed above, and toss everything together in a bowl.
    3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    4. Place the bowl in the refrigerator to marinate while you make the salmon.
    5. Next, prepare the salmon.
    6. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, chili powder, salt and pepper.
    7. Rub the top and bottom of the salmon filets with the oil, and the coat the top of the salmon filets with the seasonings.
    8. Grease a cast iron skillet with oil—don’t skimp on the oil because you don’t want the salmon to stick.
    9. Turn the stove on to medium heat.
    10. Once the pan is nice and hot, add the salmon filets skin side down (you want to get that skin nice and crispy before flipping to the other side).
    11. After about 6 minutes, use a spatula and flip the salmon filets to the other side.
    12. Cook for another 5-6 minutes, until the salmon is done to your liking.
    13. Plate the salmon filets, drizzle with the lime juice, and top with the mango salsa.
    14. Add any additional salt and pepper as needed.
    15. Enjoy!

My husband and brother really enjoyed it! I made the same but with tofu (added cornstarch to the rub) was still great!
