If you’ve been to my blog before, then you may have noticed that I have been sharing more high-protein recipes, lately. While it certainly is trendy, eating a high-protein diet is, in my opinion, way more than just a trend. It’s a way to make sure that your body is fueled, your meals are both satisfying and nourishing, and that you’re not constantly going hungry. Protein makes up the building blocks of your muscles and is what also helps you feel fuller, longer. While I don’t personally count macros, I do always count my protein intake, and I make sure that I am getting at least 100 grams of protein per day. Of course, the exact number that’s right for you will vary depending on your age, weight, and fitness goals, so don’t take my goals as your baseline. That being said, if you are looking for ways to take your fitness to the next level, definitely be sure to watch your protein!

While I have so many high-protein recipes available on my blog, from my Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs to my Frozen Protein S’mores, I wanted to share a high-protein recipe that fits your requirements. You see, I’ve received so many comments on my posts asking for very specific high-protein recipes. You guys have been asking me for high-protein recipes that are savory, dairy-free, do not contain eggs, and do not contain cottage cheese. Which, I will say, has been quite the feat! While most high-protein recipes rely on ingredients like greek yogurt, eggs, or cottage cheese, I’ve wanted to show that eating high-protein can truly align with any diet. That’s how recipes, like this Ranch Protein Popcorn, have come to fruition.

This recipe was inspired by Khloe Kardashian’s new Khloud protein popcorn, but can easily be made at home, in just a few minutes, and for a fraction of the cost that her popcorn is. While I have tried the Khloud popcorn and it is good, I also knew that we could do better. Unlike the Khloud version, this popcorn contains just four easy ingredients and comes together in just a few minutes. And the best part is? It starts with microwave popcorn!

That’s right: good ole’ microwave popcorn makes for the perfect base for this recipe. Pick your favorite popcorn and use it here — butter or no butter, dairy or no dairy, all options work well! Just be sure not to skip the ranch seasoning, as that’s what will really take this popcorn flavor to the next level!

A hand sprinkles a powdered seasoning over a large bowl of popcorn with a metal spoon. The bowl is set on a green surface, with some popcorn pieces spilled nearby.
First, prepare the popcorn by popping it in the microwave. Once it’s all popped, transfer it into a large bowl and spray it with the avocado oil. Then, add in the ranch seasoning and the collagen powder or protein powder and toss to fully combine.

What You Need to Make This High-Protein Popcorn

This Ranch Protein Popcorn contains over 30 grams of protein, and only requires four unique ingredients. I mean truly, is there anything better than that? If you’re looking for a high-protein snack in a pinch, this is the perfect one to make!

  • Popcorn: The base of this recipe begins with easy microwaved popcorn! I bet if you reached into the back of your pantry, you’d find a bag of microwave popcorn. Pick your favorite kind and use it in this recipe. Or, if you prefer to use stovetop popcorn, that also works too — just note that it will take more time.
  • Avocado Oil Spray: A little bit of oil spray will help the collagen powder / protein powder and the ranch seasoning stick to the popcorn. I like to opt for a healthier option, such as avocado oil.
  • Collagen Powder or Protein Powder: This is what gives the popcorn its protein-packed twist. You can use either collagen powder or protein powder, as long as its unflavored. Either one works just as well!
  • Ranch Seasoning: Of course, this wouldn’t be a ranch popcorn recipe without the ranch seasoning. You can find ranch seasoning packets in any local grocery store, or you can find it in the spice aisle of your local Trader Joe’s!

Give the popcorn a generous toss, to ensure that it’s fully coated in the ranch seasoning and collagen powder or protein powder. Once it’s done, serve it immediately and enjoy! This salty, buttery popcorn is sure to become your go-to high-protein snack.

How to Make This Quick & Easy High-Protein Snack

To make this delicious, high-protein snack, start by preparing the popcorn. Cook the popcorn in the microwave, until it’s popped. Then, add the popped popcorn to a large bowl.

Spray the popcorn lightly with avocado oil spray, then add in the collagen powder or protein powder. Cover the bowl with a plate and shake the popcorn to fully combine. Then, remove the plate and sprinkle the ranch seasoning into the bowl.

Cover the bowl once more, shake until the ranch seasoning is fully combined with the popcorn, then remove the plate, serve, and enjoy!
