That’s right, my Spicy Smashed Avocado Hash Brown Toasts are the best thing since the OG avocado toast, but with a twist. We’re swapping out the bread for delicious, crispy hash browns, for a flavor that is truly irresistible. This recipe is perfect for breakfast, or anytime you want a delicious, healthy snack!

    Friends, when it comes to breakfast, what does your perfect breakfast look like? For me, the answer isn’t clear-cut. Some days, I love nothing more than a large, delicious, fruit-filled smoothie. Other days, I want a protein-packed breakfast. And sometimes, I really just want comfort food. It really just depends on my mood, and what sounds best to make when I wake up!

    And that’s why I love intuitive eating so much. Not only does it allow me a better mindset when it comes to food overall, but it has helped me to see that ALL foods can comfortably fit in my “diet.” Whether that’s a plate of steamed veggies or a crispy, fried hash brown, there is room for all foods to have a seat at the table, which makes for an overall more balanced, healthy lifestyle.

    What You Need to Make These Crispy, Delicious “Toasts”

    You need less than 10 ingredients to make these crispy, delicious hash brown toasts! Note that this recipe yields four toasts, so it can be anywhere from 1-4 servings. 🙂

    • Avocado: Of course, to make the guacamole topping, we need avocados! I love avocados, not only for their delicious flavor, but also because they are loaded with healthy fats!
    • Red Onion: Diced red onion adds the perfect “bit” to the avocado!
    • Lime: A squeeze of lime not only adds the perfect amount of acidity to your guacamole, but it also prevents the avocado from turning brown! If you’re making a large batch of guacamole, or want to store some in the fridge for later, I recommend adding in more of the lime, so that the avocado stays nice and green!
    • Sriracha: A little kick of sriracha will give the guacamole the perfect amount of spice! You can vary the amount you use depending on how spicy you like your guacamole.
    • Jalapeño: To make these hash browns extra spicy, I love topping them with a slice of jalapeño! You can omit this if you’re sensitive to spice.
    • Frozen Hash Browns: Pick your favorite frozen hash brown patties and use them in this recipe! I love the ones from Trader Joe’s, so if you’re wondering where to find some, I recommend starting there.
    • Sea Salt and Pepper: Of course, a little sea salt and pepper add the perfect finishing touch!

    How to Make This Hand-Held Breakfast Treat

    Making these little Spicy Smashed Avocado Hash Brown Toasts could not be easier! Simply start by preparing your hash browns according to the package instructions. Whether you bake them, pan fry them, or put them in the air fryer, just make sure they’re nice and crispy!

    Next, add all of your remaining ingredients to a small bowl (minus the jalapeño) and mash them with a fork until your guacamole is smooth! Taste and adjust your seasonings as desired.

    Once your hash browns are done, top each one evenly with the guacamole. Then, place a jalapeño slice on top.

    Serve them immediately, and enjoy! This recipe yields 4 toasts, but can easily be doubled to make more. 🙂

    Ingredients

    • 2 Ripe Avocados
    • ¼ Red Onion, diced
    • 1 Lime, juiced
    • 1 Teaspoon Sriracha
    • ¼ Jalapeño, sliced into 4 discs
    • 4 Frozen Hash Browns
    • Sea Salt and Pepper, to taste

    Instructions 

    1. Start by preparing your hash browns according to the package instructions. Whether you bake them, pan fry them, or put them in the air fryer, just make sure that they are nice and crispy!
