Friends, if there’s one drink that epitomizes summertime, it’s lemonade. After all, who didn’t grow up drinking lemonade with their friends on those hot summer days? I remember my mom making my sister and I the classic powdered Country Time Lemonade growing up and chugging big pitchers of it, all summer long. And while I love the memories, I also know that these days… we can do better. And this Honey Ginger Lemonade is truly better than any powdered lemonade packet!

Why is it better, you may ask? Well for starters, it’s made with just a few, real food ingredients that are better-for-you. This lemonade comes together with just fresh lemon juice, ginger, honey, water, and basil, for a delicious and refreshing twist. The ginger adds just the right amount of kick, and the honey adds the perfect amount of sweetness, without the sugar. And, when this lemonade is garnished with fresh basil? The flavor is absolutely delicious and unbeatable. This lemonade is sure to be your new summertime tradition, and I know you’re going to love it!

A kitchen counter scene with a glass pitcher of ice water, a woven basket of lemons, sliced lemons, a jar of honey with a wooden honey dipper, fresh ginger on a small plate, a citrus squeezer, and basil leaves, all set against a tiled backsplash.
To make this Honey Ginger Lemonade, you will need fresh lemons, ginger, honey, water, and basil.
A blender pitcher filled with yellow liquid on a kitchen counter. Nearby are lemons, ginger, a jar of honey, a honey dipper, a knife, lemon slices, and a bowl of lemons. The backdrop features a tiled wall and a glass with a lemon design.
Start by adding the lemon juice, ginger, and honey to a blender. Blend the ingredients, on high, until they’re smooth and frothy. This should take approximately 1 minute.

The 5 Ingredients Needed to Make This Lemonade

    • Lemons: Of course, the key to making any homemade lemonade recipe is freshly-squeezed lemons. You’ll need approximately 2 cups of lemon juice, which is 10-12 lemons.
    • Fresh Ginger: Fresh ginger adds a delicious, spicy flavor to this lemonade that gives it a kick!
    • Honey: While traditional lemonade is filled with sugar, this lemonade gets its sweetness from honey, for a refined sugar-free option! And if you want some added immune health benefits, I recommend using honey from your local farmer’s market!
    • Water: A few cups of water is what brings this lemonade all together.
    • Basil: This is optional, but I love garnishing this lemonade with a few fresh basil leaves.
A kitchen counter with a blender containing fresh lemon juice. Surrounding the blender are halved and squeezed lemons, a glass jar of honey with a dipper, a metal citrus press, and a bowl with ginger root. In the background, a wicker basket and an empty glass are visible.
Once the ingredients are blended, taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness as needed. You may want to add more honey, if you like the lemonade extra sweet! Be sure to re-blend as needed, so that the honey is fully incorporated into the lemonade.

What to Serve This Lemonade With

This lemonade is a sweet and delicious treat that is perfect to enjoy all summer long! I love to pour myself a big glass of this lemonade to sip outside as my boys play. However, if you’re looking for ways to incorporate this lemonade into a larger meal, here are some of my favorite ways to pair it!

I love serving this lemonade at a backyard BBQ alongside delicious recipes like my Caramelized Onion Bacon Burger or my 12 Minute Citrus Broiled Salmon for the perfect entree pairing. Creamy and comforting appetizers like my Best Creamy Vegan Queso also make a delicious accompaniment to this lemonade. And my Strawberry Arugula Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing has just enough lemon to tie in beautifully with the lemonade, without the lemon flavor being too overpowering!
