 June 1, 2022

Your favorite drink for summer has just arrived! My No Sugar Added Watermelon Frosé is a fun and refreshing cocktail that tastes good any time of day. Plus, as the name suggests, there is no added sugar or funky ingredients in this recipe, making it sweet, simple, delicious, and refreshing!

Call me basic, but I LOVE a good frosé. After all, rosé is delicious anytime of year, but when frozen into a delicious sweet treat? It’s the recipe for a good summer! While you can go to your local bar (or restaurant) and pay $12 – $14 for a single frosé, you can also make it at-home quickly and easily. And in this recipe, I’m going to show you how!

But this isn’t your typical frosé recipe. We’ll be adding in watermelon into our frosé, for a sweet and refreshing twist! Watermelon is naturally high in antioxidants, vitamins A & C, and natural sugars, not only adding a delicious sweetness, but also a host of nutritional benefits. Who says you can’t have a cocktail AND make it healthier for you?!

What You Need to Make This Delicious Summertime Cocktail

All you need are four simple and easy ingredients to make this recipe! It could not be any simpler, and this recipe comes together in a mere matter of minutes.

  • Watermelon: Watermelon truly takes this frosé to the next level! I highly recommend (re: require) that you use frozen watermelon in this recipe. It not only makes the consistency of this drink better, but it adds the cool, refreshing taste that is quintessential for a summertime drink!
  • Rosé Wine: Of course, you need rosé wine to make frosé! While your favorite rosé will absolutely do, my favorite is by Dry Farms Wines, and you can use code KALEJUNKIE for a free bottle when you sign up via their site. And if you are #sobercurious, or just prefer a delicious treat that doesn’t involve alcohol, then I have good news for you: you can make this recipe alcohol-free! Simply swap out the rosé in favor of some delicious rose lemonade. I’ve linked my favorite for you here, and I promise you won’t even notice the difference!
  • Monk Fruit Sweetener: Instead of traditional white sugar, we’ll be using monk fruit sweetener in this recipe. Why? Because it adds sweetness without the refined sugars, which can be hard on your gut. My favorite monk fruit sweetener is by Lakanto, and I highly recommend it.
  • Mint: A sprig of fresh mint adds brightness and a fresh flavor to this frosé. Plus, it makes the glass look so much prettier!

In the Mood for a Mocktail? Try This Easy Swap!

The best part about this recipe is that it can be enjoyed by EVERYONE, whether or not you drink alcohol! If you aren’t a fan of rosé, or just prefer to have a delicious drink that’s alcohol-free, you can easily swap out the wine for one of my favorite summertime drinks: lemonade!

But if you really want to take this drink to the next level, don’t just use any ole lemonade. I recommend using a sweet and refreshing rose lemonade, to add the best flavor to this drink! You can get my favorite rose lemonade here and I promise, you won’t miss the rosé wine at all!

What to Pair Your Frosé With

If you’re looking for the perfect accompaniment for your summertime cocktail cravings, then these recipes are for you! These recipes are perfect when paired with a delicious glass of frosé, and are delicious for the warmer summer season.

Because this frosé is sweet, I love pairing it with something a little more fatty and substantial. That’s why I highly recommend pairing this drink with a recipe like my Beef Kofta Kebabs with Tzatziki Sauce, or my Chicken Taco Salad with Tangy Avocado Lime Dressing.

How to Make This Sweet, Yummy Watermelon Cocktail

Making this cocktail could not be any easier! Simply start by adding your frozen watermelon, monk fruit sweetener, and mint to a blender.

Then, add in your rosé and blend until smooth! Pour into a tall glass, garnish with mint, and enjoy!
