These Viral No Fold Dumplings are an absolute game changer for anyone who loves all the flavors of a classic wrapped dumpling but wants none of the fuss. Juicy, seasoned ground chicken is cooked to perfection and topped with a wonton wrapper, then served alongside the most addictive dipping sauce that you will want to put on absolutely everything. They come together in under 30 minutes, making them the perfect weeknight dinner or easy appetizer for entertaining!

Friends, when my girl Ashley — aka @theproteinsnackqueen, aka my Armenian sister from another mister — came to visit, we knew we had to get into the kitchen together. And let me tell you, we did NOT disappoint. We made these Viral No Fold Dumplings together, and safe to say, we are both completely obsessed. If you’ve ever wanted to make dumplings at home but felt intimidated by the wrapping process, then this recipe is going to be your new best friend. All of the flavor and none of the struggle.
I’ve been seeing these all over TikTok lately, and the hype is completely justified. The technique is so clever: instead of wrapping each dumpling individually, you cook the filling first, then place the wonton wrapper ON TOP, letting it crisp up and steam right in the pan. It makes you wonder why you ever did it the old way. Plus, if you’re someone who entertains and wants a crowd-pleasing appetizer that doesn’t require you to hover over the stove all night, this one is perfect — a quick cook and you’re done! And do NOT skip the dipping sauce. That is where the real magic happens.

What You Need to Make These No Fold Dumplings
- Ground Chicken: Ground chicken keeps things lighter than pork, but still packs in tons of flavor thanks to all of the seasonings. Ground turkey would also work well here as a substitute.
- Green Onions: Thinly sliced green onions add freshness and a mild, savory bite to the filling. They’re essential for that classic dumpling flavor!
- Fresh Ginger: Freshly grated ginger adds a warm, slightly spicy flavor that is key to making these taste authentic.
- Garlic: Three cloves of fresh minced garlic add the best savory flavor to the filling.
- Sesame Oil: A tablespoon of sesame oil adds a toasty, nutty depth to the filling that makes these taste just like your favorite restaurant dumplings.
- Dark Soy Sauce: Dark soy sauce has a richer, slightly sweeter flavor than regular soy sauce, and it’s what gives this filling its gorgeous depth. If you don’t have dark soy sauce on hand, low sodium soy sauce works just as well!
- White Pepper: White pepper has a slightly milder, earthier flavor than black pepper, and it’s a classic ingredient in Chinese-inspired dumplings. If you don’t have it, ground black pepper is a perfectly fine substitute.
- Wonton Wrappers: Instead of wrapping, you place the wonton wrapper on top of the filling and let it crisp up right in the pan.
For the Dipping Sauce:
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce: Low sodium keeps it from being overly salty while still packing in all of the savory flavor.
- Rice Wine Vinegar: A touch of rice wine vinegar adds brightness and tang to the sauce, balancing out the soy sauce.
- Sesame Oil: A little sesame oil adds a rich, toasty depth to the dipping sauce that ties all of the flavors together perfectly.
- Garlic: Two cloves of freshly minced garlic add the best savory, bold flavor to the sauce.
- Fresh Ginger: A touch of freshly grated or minced ginger adds a warm, slightly spicy kick.
- Sriracha: Sriracha adds just the right amount of heat to the dipping sauce. Add more or less depending on your spice preference!
- Sesame Seeds: These optional garnishes add a subtle crunch and texture to the dipping sauce.
- Green Onion: A sliced green onion adds a fresh, mild bite and makes the sauce look absolutely beautiful when serving.

How to Make These Easy No Fold Dumplings
To make these dumplings, start by preparing the filling. Add the ground chicken, sliced green onions, freshly grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, white pepper, and kosher salt to a large bowl. Mix everything together until it is fully incorporated and set it aside.
Next, prepare the dipping sauce. Add the soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sriracha, sesame seeds, and sliced green onion to a small bowl and whisk until fully combined. Set the sauce aside.
Now, it’s time to cook the dumplings! Lightly spray a non-stick skillet with avocado oil and heat it over medium heat. Once the pan is hot, use a cookie scoop to form round balls of the chicken mixture and drop them directly into the pan. Allow the chicken to cook undisturbed for about 2 minutes, then top each ball with a wonton wrapper, gently pressing and pinching the edges of the wrapper around each ball to help it adhere.

Lightly spray the tops of the wonton wrappers with a little more avocado oil spray, then pour ⅓ cup of water around the edges of the pan and immediately cover with a lid. Allow the dumplings to steam until the water has fully evaporated. Once the water is gone, lift the lid, add another ⅓ cup of water, and repeat this process until the chicken is fully cooked through.
Once the dumplings are done, remove them from the pan and transfer them to a plate, wonton-side up. Serve them immediately alongside the dipping sauce, and garnish with furikake seasoning and chili oil if desired. Enjoy!
