CBD is taking the health and wellness industry by storm. And I admit, I’m a total newbie. My interest in CBD was piqued when I started reading about its potential therapeutic benefits for anxiety. I don’t suffer from anxiety on a daily basis, I do have days where I feel unable to cope with basic life activities. It happens when I take on too much work, feel pulled in too many directions at one time, when I over commit myself, and when my toddler is acting up and I lose control of the situation. I know I’m not alone here.
So when I first heard about CBD, I thought to myself OMG, if this CBD stuff has the potential to just take the edge off and make me just a bit calmer on those rough days, then it’s a damn miracle!
At the same time, I was also a bit scared to try it! As someone who’s never done marijuana or any other recreational drug for that matter, it took me a while to wrap my head around it.
CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid compound found in the marijuana plant. THC is another cannabinoid, but it prompts the psychoactive effects commonly associated with marijuana, like euphoria, relaxation, and, of course, the munchies. CBD is another cannabinoid, but, unlike THC, it’s not psychoactive. This is the source of CBD’s popularity: the ability to provide some of marijuana’s therapeutic effects without the high. I dig it.
After extensive research, I purchased my first bottle of CBD oil. I carry it in my purse and put a few drops on my tongue when I start to feel anxious. Although the effects are slight, I do feel calmer when I take it. I also started incorporating it in some of my baking! A few weeks ago, I made a CBD-infused paleo strawberry fudge, and it was heaven.
Today I’m sharing with you my NO BAKE CBD PECAN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH. Here’s a pro tip that I learned from my friend Leslie: do not heat CBD above 350 degrees or it will lose its effectiveness. That’s why this no bake cookie dough is a winner winner chicken dinner and tastes incredible.
