Copycat Erewhon Turmeric Crush Smoothie

 October 3, 2023

If you’re looking for a bright and vibrant smoothie that will add a cheery touch to even the coldest days, then look no further because this is it! My Copycat Erewhon Turmeric Crush Smoothie is a riff off of one of my favorite smoothies from famous LA grocery store, Erewhon. It’s full of sweet pineapple and mango, paired with a medley of fruit juices and gut-healthy turmeric and collagen for an unbeatable combo that will make you shine from the inside out!

Friends, I’m back with one of my favorite recipes to create: An Erewhon copycat recipe. If you’re new to my blog, or haven’t been to an Erewhon location, let me tell you all about it. As a Los Angeles native, Erewhon is one of my favorite places to go when I’m back home, and that’s because they’re truly the holy grail of health food stores. They’re known for being a hub for the best of the best health food ingredients, in addition to their killer hot bar and smoothie bar. Oh, and so many of their creations are VIRAL recipes. From their Kale and White Bean Salad to their TikTok-famous Coconut Cloud Smoothie, Erewhon recipes truly live up to the hype.

But if there’s one thing that doesn’t live up to the hype… it’s the prices. A single Erewhon smoothie will run you anywhere from $17-$20, which, for a single smoothie, is way too much, if you ask me. But the good news is: we can make the same smoothie, at home, for just a fraction of the price. This recipe is a copycat of one of their signature smoothies, the Turmeric Crush, and comes together for way less than the cost of a single Erewhon smoothie. It’s made with frozen pineapple and mango, as well as different fruit juices (and turmeric, of course), for a smoothie that looks like a sunset and tastes like a summer day. As our summer days come to an end and we begin the transition into fall, this recipe is the perfect way to hang onto the summer sunshine.

What You Need to Make This Vibrant & Refreshing Smoothie

  • Frozen Pineapple and Mango: The combination of frozen pineapple and mango makes this smoothie perfectly sweet and tropical! The key is to use frozen fruit so that this smoothie is nice and thick.
  • Carrot Juice: Carrots are a true superfood. They’re full of Vitamins A, C, and beta carotene, making them the perfect healthy addition to this smoothie.
  • Orange Juice: Orange juice is full of Vitamin C, which is perfect for keeping your immune system happy and healthy in the colder months.
  • Lemon: You’ll need the juice of half of a lemon to make this smoothie!
  • Ginger: I highly recommend using fresh ginger in this recipe. And the best part is, there’s no need to peel it! As long as your ginger is properly washed, you can throw it right into the smoothie- skin and all.
  • Turmeric: Turmeric not only gives this smoothie its bright golden color, but it also adds anti-inflammatory benefits. If you want to maximize the benefits of the turmeric in the smoothie, you can also add in a pinch of black pepper.
  • Liquid Collagen: This is an optional ingredient, but if you’re looking to really take this smoothie to the next level and have it help you GLOW from the inside out, then I highly recommend adding in liquid collagen. This has been my number one secret for helping my hair grow longer and shine, and I cannot recommend it enough. Oh, and you can also use code KALEJUNKIE for 10% off your order and more when you subscribe!
  • Beet Juice: This is optional, but makes this smoothie so pretty! At Erewhon, they swirl the beet juice inside of the glass to give the smoothie a sunset-like effect, which is super easy to recreate at home.

Blend the smoothie, on high, until all of the ingredients are fully combined. It will be thick. If your blender comes with a wand, you’ll want to use it to ensure that all of the ingredients get fully combined

Four Steps to Making This LA-Famous Smoothie at Home

This smoothie comes together in only four steps, which means it’s perfect for whipping up on those busy mornings!

To make this smoothie, start by adding all of the ingredients (minus the beet juice) to a high-speed blender. Blend the smoothie, on high, until all of the ingredients are fully combined. It will be thick. If your blender comes with a wand, you’ll want to use it to ensure that all of the ingredients get fully combined. If you don’t have a wand, stop your blender periodically and use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the blender before re-blending.

Finally, assemble the smoothie by swirling the beet juice in the glass. Then, pour the smoothie in. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Next, grab a tall glass and pour the beet juice inside, swirling it so that it coats the insides of the glass. Finally, pour the smoothie into the glass, serve, and enjoy! This recipe makes one smoothie, but can easily be doubled or tripled to make more.
