It’s officially watermelon season, which means it’s time to learn how to *actually* cut a watermelon. If you’ve struggled to cut your watermelon into the perfect snack-size slices, then this is the post for you! In this post, I’m going to teach you a simple and easy kitchen “hack” to help you cut your watermelon into the perfect “sticks” without a hitch. This is my favorite way to cut a watermelon, and once you nail it, you’ll never have to struggle with cutting a watermelon ever again!

Blast this to the group chat

Friends, have you ever found yourself in a situation where you find yourself volunteering to bring watermelon slices to your kid’s school party / the neighborhood bbq / your best friend’s birthday party, only to realize that you have no idea how to slice enough watermelon(s) to feed a crowd? I know I have. I remember a key moment when I had volunteered to bring watermelon slices to a family get together, thinking it would be a simple and easy dish to bring… only, it wasn’t. I struggled so hard to cut one watermelon into picturesque slices, let alone several watermelons. If only I had this hack then!

This trick to cutting watermelons makes it so simple and easy to not only cut your watermelons into picturesque slices, but also cut lots of watermelons quickly. It’s the perfect hack to fuel all of your summertime fun, and and once you learn it, you won’t go back!

And while you’re at it, you should definitely freeze a few of your watermelon sticks to incorporate into my No Sugar Added Watermelon Frosé. It’s the perfect cool, refreshing, and boozy drink for the summertime!

How to Make the Perfect, Easy Watermelon Sticks

To cut your watermelon into the perfect sticks, I highly recommend watching the video above. Why? Because it’ll be so much easier to WATCH me do instead of just READING how to do it. When it comes to kitchen hacks like these, doing it alongside someone is the best way to master the technique!

But back to the hack. You’ll want to start by slicing a watermelon in half.

Then, flip one of the halves upside down and make slices across the watermelon about two inches apart from each other. Turn the watermelon around (just like in the video) and slice the other way, again making the slices approximately two inches apart from each other.

One you’re done, pull your “sticks” out, and you’re good to go! The perfect watermelon sticks are right at your fingertips. You can repeat this hack with the other half, or with additional watermelons if desired!
