This is my fall go-to smoothie, perfect after a workout, or for those moments where I want something sweet, yet still healthy and nutritious. If you love pumpkin spice and my killer smoothie recipes, then you’re going to go nuts for this one!

YOU GUYS. If I haven’t shown you yet just how amazing and versatile pumpkin can be, then hold onto your hats, because this recipe takes the cake (on that note, maybe I need a pumpkin cake recipe… hmmm.) This Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is absolutely UNREAL, and will satisfy your pumpkin cravings in an instant. If loving pumpkin this much makes me basic, then basic I will be. It’s delicious, and this time of year, I want it in everything. Sorry, not sorry.

If you’re like me and absolutely need all of the delicious pumpkin things in your life, then you’ll want to make this smoothie ASAP. It’s so simple and easy, and you likely will already have the ingredients for it on-hand, especially if you’re been hard at work baking all of my pumpkin recipes this season.

So run, don’t walk, and go make this right now! While the good ole Pumpkin Spice Latte isn’t quite out, the Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is 100% IN! Oh, and P.S. – if you want a Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe that’s even better than Starbucks, I’ve got you. Head over to my Instagram for the recipe!

Why I Love Pumpkin So Much

Pumpkin is a SUPERFOOD, meaning that it has a whole host of different benefits! Not only is it delicious, but it’s full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It’s also particularly rich in Vitamin A, so not only will it be beneficial for your eyesight, but it also can help boost your immunity!

But that’s not all – it’s also nutrient-dense, and packed with Vitamin C, Fiber, and Potassium, so it’ll keep your immune system healthy, your body “regulated” (if you know what I mean), and your skin glowing. Woohoo!

What You Need to Make This Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

This 9-ingredient smoothie may seem like a lot, but each ingredient is essential for achieving that perfect pumpkin pie flavor! Plus, this is a well-rounded smoothie. We’ve got our carbs, protein, fats, and healthy sugars!

  • Bananas: Unless you can’t have bananas for some reason, don’t be afraid to use bananas in your smoothie. You need two, and I recommend freezing them and slicing them into coins. A little tip that works for me: I buy a whole bunch of bananas at the beginning of the week, and chop and freeze them ahead of time! That way, I already have frozen bananas ready for my morning smoothies. 🙂
  • Pumpkin Puree: Of course we need pumpkin puree to make this pumpkin smoothie! I get mine from Trader Joe’s, but any pumpkin puree will do.
  • Vanilla Extract: A little dash of vanilla extract is essential in a regular pumpkin pie, so we want it here, too!
  • Oats: If you are gluten-sensitive, make sure that you’re using gluten-free rolled oats.
  • Vanilla Protein Powder: Pick your favorite protein powder, and throw it in this smoothie! I use a vanilla plant-based protein, but any plain or vanilla-flavored protein powder works.
  • Maple Syrup: A dash of maple syrup helps add a natural sweetness to this smoothie!
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice: This one is a no-brainer; of course we need pumpkin pie spice in a pumpkin pie smoothie!
  • Cinnamon: No pumpkin pie is complete without that signature, cinnamon-y flavor.
  • Dairy-Free Milk: You can use any non-dairy milk that you’d like! I use almond milk, but they all work the same.
  • Garnishes: I love garnishing my smoothie with some whipped cream (or CocoWhip, if you’re dairy free!) and some cinnamon sticks, and even a little orange zest. Have fun with it!

Tips for Making the Perfect Smoothies

  1. Use frozen fruit: I’ve recommended it so many times throughout this recipe, and that’s because it’s so important to achieving that optimal texture and thickness!
  2. Play Around with the liquid amount: If you find that your smoothie is too thick to blend, don’t panic! It happens! Just add a bit more milk, blend, open the cover, scrape down the sides if needed, and blend again. And if you have both a high-speed blender and a smaller blender (like a Nutri-bullet), use the high-speed blender instead, as it will blend the frozen fruit much better.
  3. Blend your smoothie on medium speed. If you blend the smoothie too fast from the beginning, it’s really hard for the blender to properly blend the frozen ingredients – so start lower and then gradually increase the speed.

  4. When you freeze multiple bananas in a stasher bag, how are you able to tell what a single portion is? Still figuring this whole sustainable thing out…

    • Hi Jessie! Good question, I honestly just eyeball it. If you want more exact portions, I recommend freezing them in individual bags!
