If you had said the words, “fried pickle dip,” to me about three months ago, I would have been confused. But as soon as I saw this recipe floating around on Instagram and TikTok, I knew that I needed to make it. After all, a creamy dip filled with chopped pickles and topped with toasted breadcrumbs is a dip that I can definitely get behind. And as soon as I made it and took a bite, I couldn’t believe I’d been missing out on this recipe my entire life!

If you’re like me and also hadn’t heard of “Fried” Pickle Dip, then let me introduce you to this simple and easy recipe that is perfect for serving at your next Game Day party or celebration. It’s made from just a few simple ingredients: butter, breadcrumbs, pickles, sour cream, ranch seasoning, and fresh dill. I mean truly, is there anything better than that? The end result is a creamy, crunchy dip that has the perfect amount of brine from the pickles. I love serving it alongside potato chips for a simple dip that anyone will love digging into.

All of the ingredients needed to make this fried pickle dip, laid out on a countertop
To make this dip, you will need butter, panko breadcrumbs, chopped pickles, sour cream, ranch seasoning, and fresh dill.
A pan, sitting on a countertop, with butter and toasted breadcrumbs inside of it
Melt the butter in a pan, over medium heat. Then, add in the panko breadcrumbs and cook them for 3-5 minutes, until they’re lightly toasted.

The 6 Ingredients Needed to Make This Viral Dip

    • Butter: A little butter helps to toast the breadcrumbs and give them a crunchy, delicious flavor. If you want to keep this recipe dairy-free, you can also opt for dairy-free breadcrumbs instead.
    • Panko Breadcrumbs: Toasted breadcrumbs add the perfect “crunch” to this dip.
    • Chopped Pickles: Pick your favorite pickles and use them in this recipe! I personally opt for dill pickles, but any variety of pickle works well.
    • Sour Cream: Sour cream makes for the perfectly creamy base for this dip. If you want to make this dip dairy-free, you can also opt to use a plant-based sour cream instead.
    • Ranch Seasoning: Ranch seasoning is made from onion powder, dill, parsley, garlic powder, sea salt, black pepper, and dried chives. You can make it yourself or buy it pre-made!
    • Fresh Dill: This is optional, but I love garnishing this dip with some fresh chopped dill!
All of the ingredients needed to make the fried pickle dip, added to a bowl
Next, chop the pickles and add them to a bowl alongside the majority of the breadcrumbs (be sure to reserve some for topping!), sour cream, and ranch seasoning.

How to Make This Crunchy and Creamy Pickle Dip

To make this pickle dip, start by heating a pan, on the stove, over medium heat, and add in the butter. Once the butter is melted, add in the panko breadcrumbs and toast until fragrant – this should take approximately 3-5 minutes. Once it’s done, remove it from the heat and set it aside.

Next, chop the pickles and add them to a bowl alongside the majority of the breadcrumbs (be sure to reserve some for topping!), sour cream, and ranch seasoning. Mix the ingredients together well. It will be thick, and if you desire a thinner consistency, you can use a little water or pickle juice to “thin” it out.

Then, top the dip with the remaining breadcrumbs and more fresh dill.

Once done, serve with potato chips and enjoy!

Then, transfer the dip to a serving plate. Top with the remaining breadcrumbs ands fresh dill, if desired. Finally, serve with potato chips and enjoy!
