Friends, you already know that I love a good viral recipe. Anytime that I see a recipe going widly viral across social media, I have to try it. One, because I’m curious and I want to know if it’s actually any good, but two, because I feel like it’s my duty to share the truth with all of you. After all, if a recipe is good, then I definitely want to share it. And if not? Well, rest assured that I will tell you, too.

But when it comes to viral recipes, these Onion Ring Chips may just be my new favorite. I first found them the other day when my friends Stella (of @hungryhappens) and Snejana (of @themodernonna) shared their takes on this recipe, and I knew then that I needed to try it. And lo and behold… it was well worth it. If there’s one viral recipe trend that you try in 2025, let it be this one.

Think of this recipe as a healtheir twist on the traditional onion rings that you know and love. But instead of being battered and fried, they are coated in a layer of crispy grated parmesan cheese and baked to perfection. While you could really add any seasonings to these onion rings that you desire, this recipe comes together simply with just some Italian seasoning. The result? A crispy, crunchy onion ring that tastes just like pizza! I love serving these Onion Ring Chips alongside a side of warm pizza sauce for the perfect twist.

Ingredients on a tiled surface include whole and sliced onions on a wooden platter, a glass jar of oil with a cork, a jar of dried herbs, grated cheese in a bowl, a block of cheese, and a bowl of tomato sauce with a wooden spoon.
To make these onion ring chips, you’ll need an onion, parmesan cheese, olive oil, and Italian seasoning. That’s it!
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and grate the parmesan cheese on top of it, spreading it out into an even layer.

The Four Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Viral Recipe

    • Onion: Of course, theyse wouldn’t be Onion Ring Chips without the onion! You’ll need one whole onion in order to make this recipe. I recommend using a white or yellow onion, but any variety of onion could work well.
    • Parmesan Cheese: These Onion Ring chips are naturally gluten-free – and that’s because instead of using breadcrumbs, they call for a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. I like to freshly grate the parmesan cheese, so that it has the best flavor.
    • Olive Oil: A little olive oil adds a delicious flavor to these Onion Ring Chips, and makes them nice and crispy!
    • Italian Seasoning: A pinch of Italian seasoning adds the perfect flavor to these Onion Ring Chips and makes them taste just like pizza. Yum!

Then, cut the onion into slices that are approximately 1/4 inch thick. Lay the onion slices on top of the grated parmesan cheese.
