With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s no surprise that, over at Kalejunkie HQ, we’ve got dessert on our minds. From beautiful heart-shaped cakes to decadent chocolate boxes, Valentine’s Day just isn’t the same without the dessert. After all, on a day that’s all about love and sweetness, what could be sweeter than a delicious dessert?!
So today, I’m rounding up my 10 Favorite Healthy Valentine’s Day Dessert recipes. While these recipes are truly perfect for anytime of year, they just scream Valentine’s Day to me, and are recipes that I know you and your loved ones will absolutely adore. Make them as a gift to a loved one, as an accompaniment to a romantic V-Day dinner, or even as Valentines for your kiddo to pass out at school. Whichever way you decide to go, you cannot go wrong with any of these recipes; they are tried-and-true, and withstand the test of time… just like love does! 😉
Say goodbye to the days of making a mess in your kitchen trying to achieve the PERFECT chocolate covered strawberries. This recipe is not only mess-free, but makes the prettiest chocolate dipped strawberries, every time! Plus, unlike traditional CCS (or, chocolate covered strawberries, for those “in-the-know”) that tend to be loaded with sugar, this recipe is chock-full of gut-healthy ingredients, so you can have your dessert AND support your gut health at the same time. What could be better than that?!
Light, pillowy, chocolate mousse is truly a flavor (and texture) that can’t be beat. And, my Creamy Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cups are the same chocolate mousse that you know and love, but made dairy-free, and refined sugar-free. That’s right; it’s all the deliciousness of mousse, but with a healthy twist. This recipe yields 4 servings, so it’s perfect for a family-friendly treat, or even for a “Galentine’s Day” celebration!
A classic Valentine’s Day treat, my White Chocolate Dipped “Oreos” actually aren’t Oreos at all! In this recipe, I use an organic Oreo-like cookie, but you can use traditional Oreos here, if preferred, or even a gluten-free and/or vegan Oreo instead! Plus, we’re using sugar-free white chocolate to get that delicious coating, and also some classic heart-shaped sprinkles. Because let’s be real, sprinkles truly make EVERYTHING taste better.
There are few ingredients that are more quintessential “Valentine’s Day” to me than strawberries, so of course I had to include my Paleo Strawberry Shortcakes on the list. These cakes are completely gluten-free, but you wouldn’t notice it; between the fresh, vibrant strawberries and the creamy whipped “cream” (I use coconut whipped cream to keep it paleo-friendly), this recipe truly takes the “cake”!
If you love cupcakes, then you’re going to simply adore this recipe. Not only are these cupcakes so incredibly delicious, the best part is that they are beyond easy to make. All you have to do is throw the ingredients in a blender, and you’ve got the perfect cupcake batter ready-to-go. They also happen to be gluten-free, grain-free, paleo-friendly, and there’s a vegan option too, so it’s truly the perfect cupcake recipe for everyone!
My take on the classic linzer cookie recipe is paleo-friendly, gluten-free, vegan, and surprisingly easy to make. The dough is soft and easy to work with, and, not to mention, we’re also sandwiching two warm cookies with a homemade strawberry chia jam inside. The only downside to this recipe is that these cookies are so good, you’ll want to keep the whole tray to yourself!
These lava cakes may look fancy, but don’t be intimidated – they’re surprisingly easy to make! To me, nothing epitomizes a decadent Valentine’s Day treat more than a lava cake, and these gluten-free lava cakes are my healthier and delicious twist on that classic recipe!
If you LOVE donuts, but have yet to find a healthy donut recipe that you *actually* enjoy, then my Best Ever Paleo Chocolate Donuts are for you. After struggling to find a healthy donut recipe that didn’t taste like cardboard, I went to my kitchen and created this recipe. And when I say that it may be the best healthy donut that you eat, I’m not kidding, and I’ll stand behind that statement 110%! This recipe is paleo-friendly, so by that nature, it’s also gluten-free and refined sugar-free, too!
If you’re flying solo this Valentine’s Day, or if you just want a special treat that only YOU can enjoy, then my Chocolate Chunk Walnut Baked Oats is the perfect recipe for you! This single-serving baked oats recipe tastes like a cake, but is loaded with fiber, protein, and delicious gluten-free oats. Yum!
You didn’t think I’d end this roundup without a chocolate chip cookie recipe, did you?! 😉 Well fear not, because these Gluten-Free Brown Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies may just be my best chocolate chip cookie recipe since my famous Life Changing Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies. They’re soft, they’re chewy, they’re gluten-free, and they’re absolutely game-changing. They’re the perfect “CCC” (aka chocolate chip cookie) recipe for any holiday, but especially for Valentine’s Day!
