If you’re looking for a quick and cozy way to level up your coffee or tea game, this Creamy Dairy Free Chai Concentrate is about to be your new favorite fridge staple. It’s dairy-free, sweetened naturally with condensed oat milk, and loaded with warm chai spices that make every sip feel like a hug. It’s like a shortcut to the vibe of a dirty chai or Vietnamese iced coffee, but make it creamy, spiced, and done in 5 minutes flat.

Blast this to the group chat

Friends, I have to tell you right up front — this is not traditional chai. It’s a shortcut to something that is chai-like. It’s a bold, creamy, dairy-free chai concentrate that you can mix right into your coffee or tea (hot or iced) and it keeps in the fridge for up to 3 weeks! You also want have to add any sweetener because the condensed milk already sweetens it for you.

If I had to describe it, I’d say it has the vibes of Vietnamese coffee but with chai spices. If you like those things, then I think you’ll love it! It’s thick, spiced, and sweetened with condensed oat milk. So you get all the flavor and none of the added sweetener. I love to add it to cold brew, black tea, basically anything I want to make taste a little cozier.

It’s not traditional. But it is delicious, nourishing, and totally doable. And if you’re anything like me — someone who wants coffee-shop flavor without the coffee-shop price or hassle — you’re going to be obsessed!

A variety of spices and ingredients on a kitchen counter, including jars of ground spices, a glass of creamy liquid, bowls of powders, whole cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and a wooden spoon.
To make this, you’ll need condensed oat milk, ground cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.

What You Need to Make This Creamy Dairy Free Chai Concentrate

    • Condensed Oat Milk: This is the base of the whole recipe. It’s sweet, thick, and creamy. I use condensed oat milk to keep it dairy-free, but coconut condensed milk (also dairy free) or regular condensed milk works too.
    • Ground Cardamom: Floral, fragrant, and the signature spice in a good chai. Don’t skip this one!
    • Ground Ginger: Warming and a little zippy. This gives the concentrate that classic cozy chai bite.
    • Ground Cinnamon: A total comfort spice. Just enough to round out the blend.
    • Ground Cloves: Deep and earthy with a tiny bit of sweetness. It adds the richness you want in a chai, without overpowering.
    • Ground Nutmeg: Just a pinch brings everything together and adds that final hint of warmth and spice.
Two clear glass mugs filled with iced chai latte sit on a table, surrounded by spices like cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods, with jars of chai concentrate and spice mix in the background.
Add to your drink of choice and enjoy!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can i use a different milk base?

Yes! Condensed oat milk is what keeps this creamy and naturally sweet, but you can use coconut condensed milk for a slightly different vibe or regular condensed milk if you’re not dairy-free.

does this work in hot drinks too?

    Definitely!

can i make it less sweet?

If you’re using condensed milk, the sweetness is built in. For less sweet, you’d need to make your own base with milk, spices, and a little sweetener to taste.

    can i double the recipe?

Yes, just make sure your container has room, and it’ll still keep for about 3 weeks.
