How to Store Leftover Coconut Milk

 April 28, 2022

I don’t know about you, but here in California, a single can of coconut milk will run you about $3-$4. It’s practically liquid gold! With this simple and easy kitchen hack, I will show you how to store leftover coconut milk so that you can ensure that each and every drop is used!

If there’s one food that’s severely underrated in my opinion (aside from my beloved kale, of course), it’s coconuts. Packed with vitamins, antioxidants, potassium, and electrolytes, coconuts are a super food, and the whole part of the coconut is delicious. From the tender coconut meat, to the sweet coconut water and, of course, delicious and creamy coconut milk, coconut is a perfectly versatile ingredient!

But, of course, an ingredient that sweet comes at a price, and here in California a single can of coconut milk will run you an average of $3-$4 (unless you’re lucky to score some at Trader Joe’s… but in my area, they’re always sold out). With a price that high, you can bet that I’m using every last drop of coconut milk that I can. And this hack is the perfect way to make sure that it all gets used!

The Best Way to Store Coconut Milk

This hack is so simple and easy, you’ll wish you’d have thought of it sooner! Simply mix up your can of coconut milk, and pour the contents into an ice cube tray.

Freeze overnight, and then you’ll have perfect coconut milk cubes ready to go whenever you need them! I use these in smoothies, pastas, and soups, and they all work well. Plus, it’s so much easier than cracking open a new can every time that you need to use some!

How to Use Your Coconut Milk Cubes

Now that you have your coconut milk prepped and ready to go, it’s time to start cooking! If you love a rich, creamy savory recipe, then you’ll love my Creamy No-Cream Tomato Soup (best paired with a grilled cheese, of course), or my Spicy Tofu Tahini Noodles for an Asian-inspired kick. And don’t forget my Easy Chicken Marsala – it is divine!

And if sweet recipes are more of your thing, then you have to try my delicious Paleo Salted Caramel Cups, or my Creamy Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cups. You truly can’t go wrong with either one!

I hope you guys love this simple and easy kitchen hack! If you decide to try it out, be sure to leave a comment below and let me know what you think! And if you post to Instagram, I repost your remakes on my IG stories! Enjoy! xx
