Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate the season of love by sharing a delicious drink with your sweetie? My Frozen Cherry Margarita is the perfect drink to celebrate the occasion, and it’s not only delicious but also easy to make. It’s sweet, it’s creamy, and it’s perfectly festive for a Valentine’s or Galentine’s celebration!

Friends, the key to a good margarita recipe starts with the right ingredients. Specifically, high-quality ingredients and the right proportions. The sweet and tart flavors of the frozen cherries in this recipe, combined with the strong and smooth tequila, the orange-flavored triple sec, the fresh lime juice, and the sweet honey create a perfect balance of flavors, if I do say so myself. 😉

And this balance of flavors truly makes the *perfect* Valentine’s Day drink! Not only do the cherries feel sweet and romantic, but the red color that they give to this cocktail make it perfect for the holiday! I just love Valentine’s Day so much, so any excuse to have a fun and festive recipe is one that I will take!

And if you’re wondering what you can serve these Cherry Margaritas with, then look no further because I have GOT YOU with the perfect Valentine’s Day dinner! Pair these cocktails with my Simple Lemon Garlic Pasta or my 30-Minute Skillet Lasagna for a simple, yet delicious dinner. Then, finish off the night with my Gluten-Free Warm Lava Cakes (for two, of course), or my adorable Strawberry Chia Linzer Cookies for the perfect sweet treat. Valentine’s Day truly doesn’t get more simple or delicious than that!

What You Need to Make This Perfectly Festive Cocktail

  • Frozen Cherries: Of course, to make this Cherry Margarita, you need the cherries! I recommend freezing your cherries ahead of time, to ensure that this cocktail stays nice and frozen without needing tons of ice (which will water it down).
  • Lime Juice: We’ll be using a squeeze of lime in both the cocktail itself, and to rim the glass.
  • Honey: Instead of using simple syrup, we’ll be using honey. Why? One, because the flavor combination of honey and cherries is amazing, but two, because the honey is free from refined sugars, making you feel better after this drink! More sugars = more hangovers, and we don’t want that.

To make these frozen cherry margaritas, you’ll need frozen cherries, lime juice, honey, tequila, cointreau or triple sec, ice cubes, and, of course, sea salt
  • Tequila: Of course, you need tequila in order to make a margarita!
  • Cointreau or Triple Sec: Cointreau or Triple Sec are necessary to any classic margarita recipe.
  • Ice Cubes: Some ice cubes will ensure that this drink gets extra frozen. You can use less ice cubes if you like it thinner, or more if you want it thicker!
  • Sea Salt: A little sea salt will be used to rim the glass, giving it that classic margarita look and feel!

Don’t forget to pour the tequila into the blender – this is a frozen margarita, after all!

How to Make This Simple & Easy Cocktail Recipe

To make this drink, start by preparing your glass. Rub the rim of the glass with a lime wedge, then pour your sea salt into a small plate or bowl. Place the rim of the glass into the salt and turn until a nice salt rim forms. Next, add all of your margarita ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

Once your drink is blended, pour it into the glass, serve, and enjoy! This recipe makes 1 drink, but can easily be doubled to make 2.

How to Make This Valentine’s Margarita Alcohol-Free

Whether you are continuing Dry January into February, or simply wanting to omit the alcohol from this recipe, don’t worry: I’ve got you! This recipe can easily be made without the alcohol, for a mocktail that is both refreshing and delicious.

  • Omit the alcohol all-together (the tequila and the cointreau or triple sec) and replace it with 1/4 cup of orange juice and a splash of club soda, or you can replace the alcohol with ginger beer – so yummy and also kid-friendly!
  • Replace the tequila with a non-alcoholic tequila and a splash of orange juice.
