The Best Christmas Margaritas

 December 22, 2021

Your holiday cocktail game just got a serious upgrade: These are The BEST Christmas Margaritas, and the best part is, they’re so simple and easy to throw together last-minute! If you are looking for the perfect holiday cocktail to serve at your Christmas / holiday party, or to help get the party started on Christmas morning, then look no further, because this is it!

Friends, can you believe that Christmas is almost here?! I can’t. It feels like the holiday season came and went so quickly this year, and it’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact that the holidays are almost finished.

But before we finished up the holiday season, I had to share one more Christmas recipe with you. I just couldn’t wait until next year to share this creation! First, if you don’t have a good Christmas cocktail recipe, or a tradition that involves a Christmas cocktail, then you need one ASAP. Even Santa deserves a little boozy drink to unwind after the madness of the holidays, and you deserve one, too! 😉

Second, this recipe is incredibly quick and easy to throw together. All you need are a few simple ingredients, and almost all of them are pantry staples, or are common ingredients that can be used in other recipes.

This recipe makes 2 margaritas, but you can easily double (or triple!) this recipe to make more. If you’re making this for a holiday party, I recommend planning to make at least 1 batch per person. In my opinion, 2 of these margaritas is the perfect amount to keep a party going, without going overboard.

What You Need to Make The Best Christmas Margaritas

Like I mentioned earlier, this recipe only uses a few different ingredients – 7 of them, to be exact! If you make margaritas, or other cocktails, regularly, then chances are, you may even have most of these ingredients already on-hand!

  • Vanilla Sugar: Instead of salt, we’re using sugar to coat the rim. Why? It gives an unexpected sweet twist to this margarita, and pairs wonderfully with our other ingredients! But if you prefer a traditional salt rim, you can absolutely do that instead.
  • Pomegranate Juice: Pomegranate may seem like a not-so-classic holiday flavor, but in my opinion, it’s perfect for this time of year!
  • Sparkling Water: Sparkling water is a quintessential ingredient in almost any cocktail! I love San Pellegrino sparkling water, but you could also use Topo Chico, or any other brand!
  • Tequila: Of course, you need tequila to make a classic margarita! I recommend picking your favorite tequila and using it here – mine is the Solento brand.
  • Cointreau: Cointreau is an orange-flavored triple sec, which is another classic margarita ingredient! You can also use traditional triple sec here, and add in a splash of orange juice to get that subtle, orange flavor.
  • Lime Juice: Some fresh squeezed lime juice adds the perfect balance of acidity and zest to this margarita! I recommend using fresh whenever possible – and, fresh lime also makes for the perfect garnish, too. 🙂
  • Frozen Cranberries: Frozen cranberries add texture, color, and vibrancy to your margarita. I recommend only adding a few in, because a little goes a long way!

How to Make The Best Christmas Margaritas

  1. Start by pouring your vanilla sugar onto a plate.
  2. Slice a small piece of your lime, and rub it along the rim of each glass, making sure that the liquid sticks to it.
  3. Dip the rim into the sugar unit it’s fully-coated all the way around.
  4. Next, in a shaker, add in the pomegranate juice, sparkling water, tequila, cointreau, and lime juice.
  5. Shake for about 15-20 seconds, or until fully combined.
  6. Add ice to each of the glasses.
  7. Divide the margarita mixture between the two glasses.
  8. Add in a few frozen cranberries to each glass.
  9. Garnish with a slice of lime, and enjoy!
