2022 was the year of the ice cube, and in 2023, we are keeping this trend alive with one of my favorite viral recipes. These Frozen Immunity Ice Cubes are packed with ingredients to help boost your immune system and keep you feeling healthy all winter long! Plus, these cubes couldn’t be easier to assemble – simply add all of your ingredients to a blender, transfer to your ice cube tray, freeze overnight, and then pop out these cubes once they’re frozen. It’s that easy!
Friends, would you believe me if I told you that these cubes were one of my most VIRAL recipes of 2022, with over a million views? It’s true! These simple, easy, and delicious cubes are not only one of my most viral recipes, but are also one of my favorite recipes, on the fact that they are absolutely perfect for this winter season. They are sweet, they are tart, they are creamy, and they are full of ingredients to help keep your immune system in tip-top shape, all winter long!
But don’t just take my word for it – even my friends at Good Morning America loved these cubes! And that’s because not only are they delicious AND nutritious, but they are so simple and easy to throw together. It’s part of the reason why I love ice cube tray recipes so much. Not only do they make recipes easier to throw together, but they are also easy to put together. They’re the ultimate lazy girl recipe!
What You Need to Make These Immune-Boosting Cubes
Lemon: Fresh lemon is packed with antioxidants and is the perfect way to start your mornings!
Carrot: Carrot is loaded with Vitamin A and Beta Carotene, making it a true superfood. Plus, some studies also show that carrots can be good for hormone health as well!
Ground Turmeric & Black Pepper: A simple wellness “hack” is to always pair turmeric alongside black pepper. Why? Because the black pepper allows our body to absorb all of the nutrients from the turmeric, so we can get the full anti-inflammatory and immune benefits of it!
Raw Ginger: Raw ginger is full of spice (and, not to mention, antioxidants) that make the perfect addition to these cubes! Plus, ginger has long been known to also aid in digestion, making these cubes perfect for people with sensitive tummies.
Honey: A little honey adds the perfect amount of sweetness to balance out the tartness of the lemon and the spiciness of the ginger!
Orange: Oranges are packed with Vitamin C, which is well-known to have positive impacts on our immune system’s ability to fight off illness.
Coconut Milk: This is optional, but I love adding coconut water to these cubes in order to make them thicker!
Water or Coconut Water: And last, but certainly not least, you’ll need a little water in order to bring these cubes to life. If you prefer, you can use coconut water instead, to add flavor and an extra boost of Vitamin C!
3 Ways to Serve Your Immunity Ice Cube
You might be wondering, “Nicole, how do I serve these immunity cubes?” Luckily for you, there are three delicious ways to serve these cubes, so that you can always enjoy a delicious, immune-boosting beverage!
Drink them as a shot: Simply allow 2-3 of these cubes to defrost in a small glass and take them down as an immunity shot!
Drink them with hot water: If you prefer to have a more substantial immunity drink, simply place 2-3 cubes into a glass and top them with hot water. Once they melt, stir them until the ingredients are fully incorporated with the water, and enjoy!
Making these ice cubes is so simple and easy, you’ll want to do it all the time! Simply start by adding all of your ingredients to a high-speed blender.
Next, blend until your ingredients come together and the mixture is smooth. This will take approximately 2 minutes. If you want your cubes to have less texture, transfer your mixture into a cheese cloth and strain the mixture over a bowl, until all of the clumps are removed. If you don’t mind the texture, you can skip this step!
Finally, transfer the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight. Once done, serve as desired, and enjoy!

Hi! I purposely leave it kind of vague so people can customize. But for me one piece, equals 1 inch. And it does not need to be peeled or sliced as long as it’s washed. if you prefer a heavier ginger taste, I would go with 2 inches.
Hi Arianna! These cubes should stay good in the freezer for up to three months.
I made these a week or so ago and fell in love with them. I peeled the citrus and used fresh grated turmeric, but otherwise made it as written. So refreshing and healthy-tasting, but in a good way, lol. My boyfriend and I love it mixed with oat milk, as a smoothie in the morning, and he’s also enjoyed it hot, just steeped in hot water, in the evening.
We ran out of them this morning and I’ve just finished making a new batch. These are definitely a freezer staple now!
I made these cubes this morning as one of my January smoothie challenge recipe. Proactive approach for the week ahead – meal prep and immune booster too … thank you 😊 Nicole @kalejunkie for this ice cube recipe – I tried one ice cube – it was spicy (ginger, black pepper), tangy (orange and lemon), creamy (coconut milk), sweet (honey), beautiful color (carrot and turmeric) and good for you and delicious (because @kalejunkie created it) . Thank you 😊 we will benefit from it all week long and I will definitely make it again and again all cold season.
What a wonderful meal prep, Agnes!! Thank you for all of your support, as always! xoxo
These are super yummy! I reduced the coconut water to just one cup so they would be more substantial- three cups made them super runny! I strained and froze them and they are perfect.
