What do you get when you marry my two favorite foods? You get this HEALTHY TACO PASTA, because I am obsessed with both tacos and pasta. And once you try this recipe, I’m pretty sure you will be obsessed, too!
My favorite part about this meal is how quickly it comes together – it’s on your table in under 30 minutes. And while it might be tempting to purchase a pre-made taco seasoning blend, I can assure you that using my special spice combo is going to yield a much tastier result! Try it, you will thank me.
What you need to make this taco pasta
Think simple ingredients, baby! Simplicity is where it’s at.
My unique taco seasoning blend: A blend of cumin, oregano, sea salt, chilli powder, smoked paprika, pinch cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
Pasta: You can use any shape you like!
Avocado oil or olive oil: You can use either, depending on what you have on hand.
Ground beef: I prefer to use 85/25 ground beef because the sauce will be more flavorful, but if you want a leaner meat, go with 90/10. If you are plant-based, you can also substitute vegan meat crumbles for the ground beef.
Onion: Onion will give this dish that little kick that it needs!
Garlic: And the same with the garlic. Don’t skimp on the garlic. Plus, it’s so good for you!
Tomato sauce: You will need a 15 ounce can of tomato sauce, and I always purchase this organic, when possible.
Plain yogurt: You can use regular or dairy-free. This makes the sauce super creamy!
Toppings:
These are all optional, but my favorite toppings are as follows:
Sour cream: Sour cream adds such a tangy flavor.
Mexican blend cheese: You can purchase vegan too!
Chives: Chop up some fresh chives and add it on top!
Jalapeno: If you want a little kick, adding a few slices of sliced jalapeño (like you see here) is super tasty!
Guacamole: I’m usually in a hurry and pick up pre-made guac, but you can make your own or just used sliced avocado.
How to make this healthy taco pasta
I feel silly even writing a full paragraph on how to make this recipe, but hey, it’s important for SEO, so here we are.
The first thing you need to do is boil your pasta according to package instructions, then drain it and set aside.
Next, prepare the taco sauce! To do that, sauté the onions, ground beef (or vegan meat crumbles), and mashed garlic. Once the meat is cooked through, add the tomato sauce, yogurt, and all of the seasonings, mixing everything together well. The sauce will be nice and creamy. Let it simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, so the flavors really soak in!
Add the cooked pasta to the taco meat sauce, plate, and add your favorite toppings. That’s it.
SO GOOD and SO EASY!!

Woohoo! That sounds delicious, Rachel! Thank you so much for making this recipe, and for leaving such a kind review!
Definitely family friendly I can see myself making this once a week. It was super easy and fast to put together but was so delicious and flavorful. My boys said it was “fire” which is a good thing. I added sautéed zucchini which my boys and husband didn’t seem to mind.
