Move over haters– whether you like it or not, pasta chips are here to STAY. These fun, crispy “chips” are arguably the most exciting way to eat pasta, and satisfy your snack cravings. I am obsessed with how fun and delicious these are, and I know you will be, too. After all, my pasta chips videos have received over 3 million views on Tik Tok alone… and have been featured in the New York Post, Mashed, HITC, and Well + Good. Oh yeah, they’re THAT good.
From baked feta pasta to pesto eggs, Tik Tok is the place to be to discover new food trends. I love using the platform to experiment with making crazy new food creations and trying out trends. It’s become such a fun way to get creative in the kitchen, and introduce my recipes to an entirely new audience.
However, I think it goes without saying that my favorite trend, by far, has been the pasta chips. My pasta chip recipes have all gone viral on Tik Tok, and for a good reason. These pasta chips are such a quick, easy, and delicious snack to make. And, not to mention, they’re super fun. If you’ve been on the fence about trying them, I say go for it. This recipe can be made a million different ways, and I know you’re going to love them as much as I do.
Pasta chips are exactly what they sound like — they’re pasta that is crisped up to be reminiscent of a chip! They’re nice and crunchy with a little bit of chewiness in the center, making it an explosion of flavors and textures in your mouth. They taste similar to the crunchier bits in a baked pasta dish, so if you love those, then you will absolutely love these pasta chips.
I make these pasta chips in an air fryer (see below for exact instructions), but you can also make them in an oven on on the stove! They are super easy and take very little time to make, making them the perfect quick, easy, healthy, and DELICIOUS snack.
The best part about these VIRAL pasta chips is the fact that they are incredibly easy to customize! In my recipes, I use traditional bowtie pasta, but you can use whatever works for you. Gluten-free? Use a rice or chickpea based pasta. Craving cheese? Use ravioli or cheese tortellini instead! Pick a pasta, any pasta, and use it in this recipe. It’ll all turn out delicious in the end!
Just like how the type of pasta you use can vary, so can the different seasonings that you use! You can’t go wrong with seasoning these pasta chips with a little salt and pepper, but if you really want to get creative, I recommend seasoning them with Pesto, Buffalo Sauce, or even a little Cinnamon Sugar to make it taste like a Churro. I have recipes for all of these flavor combinations and more on my Tik Tok, and if you type “Pasta Chips” into the search bar, you’ll find hundreds of other flavor combinations as well.
In this post, I’ll be sharing my recipe for my Italian Pasta Chips, which was my first pasta chip recipe to go viral. These might just be my favorite variation of pasta chips out there, and are definitely a crowd-pleaser.
Q: I don’t have an air fryer, can I still make these pasta chips?
Yes! You can absolutely make these without an air fryer. Simply cook your pasta in the oven at 400 F until crispy. The texture may be slightly different, but they will still taste delicious.
Q: What other dips would these be good with?
You can really dip these pasta chips in anything! Some of my favorite dips that I’ve seen are: ranch dressing, queso, whipped ricotta, cottage cheese, hummus, pesto, artichoke dip, and even chocolate!
Q: Isn’t this just like eating raw pasta?
Nope! The texture is completely different. Since we are cooking the pasta first, and adding oil, the pasta chips stay slightly soft in the center, so you don’t feel like you’re breaking your teeth when you eat them.
Q: How long do these keep for?
I recommend eating them right away, one because they’re delicious, and two because they’ll taste much better that way. You can keep them in the fridge overnight, but the texture just isn’t the same.

Have you ever done this with cheese tortellini? Curious…
You don’t say how large a package of pasta to use for these chips. Half a pound, 3 pounds, something in between? Also, in your recipe for raspberry custard toast (which sounds really good), you say to use “a container” of Greek yogurt. I generally buy my Greek yogurt in 32-oz. containers, but I’m guessing that might be a bit much for two slices of toast.
Hi Margaret, these are based off of standard sizes. Generally, a standard sized package of pasta is about 12 oz. A container of Greek Yogurt generally refers to a single serving container. You can vary the amount you’re using based on how much you’re making… and I recommend using your best judgment. Yes, 32 oz of yogurt is a lot for two slices. Use what feels like a good amount to cover two slices. 🙂
I’ve made these about 3 times now and love them lots! My favorite thing about Nicole’s recipes are the amount of freedom and exploration they provide. It really brings out the creative process of baking and cooking for me, which as a musician makes me feel so excited to continue to make her recipes! These pasta chips are great, and I love making my gluten free pasta, adding homemade vegan Parmesan cheese, and dipping them in ranch and marinara sauce!
You are seriously so sweet, thank you so so much Hannah. Your words have truly made my day, and I’m absolutely thrilled to hear that my recipes have helped you find a love for the creativity of cooking and baking! And your gluten-free and vegan version sounds absolutely delicious 🙂
