Of all of the grocery stores to exist in the United States, Trader Joe’s has to be one of my all-time favorites. Not only do they have a HUGE variety of products to choose from, covering nearly every type of food that you can desire, but their prices and quality are truly unbeatable. And, not to mention, there are so many healthy options at Trader Joe’s, too. ALL of their products (yes, all) even happen to be non-GMO!
But since Trader Joe’s has such a huge variety of products, it can be overwhelming to sort out what is truly the best. Which is why I have done the hard work for you! In this post, I’ll be rounding up over 20 of my favorite Must-Have Healthy Trader Joe’s Items for 2023. From the best kimchi to the corn chips that I cannot live without, these are some of my favorite items that are staples within my kitchen and pantry.
What Makes a Good Trader Joe’s Product?
When picking products for this list, there were a few different criteria points that I kept in mind. First: health. While ALL food is welcome (even food that would normally be deemed “unhealthy), I do like to make sure that the majority of what I keep around me is healthy, and helps me to reach my nutrient goals for the day. Why? Because healthy food makes me FEEL better! That doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy the occasional Trader Joe’s treat. But overall, I want to make sure that the majority of foods that I buy are healthy.
Next, is convenience. Let’s be honest, as a mom of two rambunctious little boys, and a full-time creator, I am often strapped for time. Which means that I don’t always have the time to be making healthy foods. To make sure that I can still eat in a way that will best fuel my body, AND not take up all of my time, I love looking towards some of the healthier Trade Joe’s products.
And these reasons are exactly why I’ve decided to break up this list of products into three different categories: Gut-Healthy products, Convenience Products, and Pantry Staples, to help you quickly and easily find products to meet all of your needs.
My Favorite Gut-Healthy Trader Joe’s Products:
Sauerkraut: When it comes to gut-healthy ingredients, anything loaded with probiotics is it. Sauerkraut is perfectly tangy, delicious, and this one is so good that I could eat it right from the jar!
Kimchi: Kimchi is another one of my favorite ingredients, particularly when it is added to Grilled Cheese. The Trader Joe’s kimchi is my absolute favorite, but be warned: it is spicy!
Marinated Artichoke Hearts: These Marinated Artichoke Hearts are the perfect grab-and-go back! Artichoke hearts are rich in fiber and low in carbs, making them an ingredient that your gut simply thrives off of.
Almond Butter: While there are so many delicious almond butters out there, the Trader Joe’s almond butter is one of the best. It’s made of just a few simple ingredients, has a rich, creamy flavor, and the price truly makes it unbeatable.
Cauliflower Gnocchi: Now, I know what you’re thinking: isn’t cauliflower gnocchi so 2018? Maybe so, but it is still delicious. I love popping it into the air fryer for a simple and delicious snack!
Grilled Olives: Another snack option that I love are these delicious Grilled Olives. Olives are loaded with healthy fats and when grilled, they truly have the best flavor.
The Most Convenient + Healthy Trader Joe’s Products:
Organic Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast: If there’s one Trader Joe’s product that’s truly my favorite, it’s this one. This Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast is fully cooked and ready to add to your favorite salads, pastas, or soups. Plus, it’s nitrate-free and free from any funky stuff, so you can know that you’re truly eating the best.
Trail Mix Packets: A fun fact about me is that I ALWAYS have a trail mix packet in my purse. It’s the perfect snack to keep me satisfied in-between meals. I love that these packets are individually portioned and ready to eat at any time.
Turkey Burgers: These frozen turkey burgers make for the perfect, simple, and easy weeknight dinners! Simply heat them up in a pan (or throw them on the grill, if you desire), add your toppings of choice, and you have a burger that’s better than In-N-Out. 😉
Cage-Free Hard Boiled Eggs: Before you ask, yes, you absolutely can hard boil eggs on your own, But these hard boiled eggs are the perfect grab-and-go snack! I love having these for those busy days where I’m constantly running around.
Pappardelle Pasta Nests: Let’s be honest: measuring out perfectly-portioned sizes of pasta can be tough. These individual pappardelle nests are portioned out for you, so you can make the perfect amount of pasta, every time!
Chomps: You already know that I love Chomps. It’s my favorite grab-and-go snack when I want a little more protein! Trader Joe’s has the best price for them.
Alvarado Street Bakery Sprouted Wraps: My favorite way to add a little more bulk and flavor to my salads is to turn them into a wrap, and these wraps are my absolute favorite. They are made from sprouted grains, and are simple to prepare. Just warm them in a pan (or a microwave, if you really want), fill with your favorite ingredients, and enjoy!
The Best Trader Joe’s Pantry + Fridge Staples
Organic Coconut Aminos: Coconut aminos is a slightly-sweet, delicious alternative to traditional soy sauce, and Trader Joe’s has them for the cheapest price. At only $2.99 per bottle, I love to buy a few of these at a time and use them in my favorite Asian-inspired recipes, like my Rice Noodles with Spicy Peanut Sauce!
Everything But the Bagel Seasoning: This is definitely one of the most popular items at Trader Joe’s, but don’t overlook it: it’s delicious! This seasoning is a blend of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, sea salt, garlic, and onion, for a combination that is truly delicious on everything from avocado toast to even pasta.
Pizza Seasoning: And in the spirit of the best seasonings, this Pizza Seasoning is one of the newest to the Trader Joe’s lineup. I love to add it to cheesy toast to make it taste like pizza, or even adding it to pizza sauce for an extra kick of flavor!
Herbed Tahini Spread: You already know that I love tahini, and this Herbed Tahini Spread is to die for. It’s creamy, it’s herby, it’s salty, and it has the perfect balance of flavors to take any dish to the next level.
Parmesan Reggiano: Fresh Parmesan Reggiano is one of my favorite ingredient. It’s imported straight from Italy and is truly the best-priced Parmesan Reggiano that you can find. In fact, I’ve been using it in my favorite pastina recipe for the most authentic flavor!
Garlic Spread: This garlic spread is Trader Joe’s riff on a Middle Eastern favorite, Toum, a delicious garlic spread eaten with everything from kebabs to pitas. I love putting this dip on absolutely everything – it is way too good!
Ezekiel Bread: Ezekiel bread is made from sprouted grains, to make it a gentler on your gut. Trader Joe’s has the best price for Ezekiel bread that I’ve found, so I always stock up on it here!
Sprouted Wheat Multi-Grain Bread: If you are looking for a delicious and healthy bread for sandwiches, then this is it! Sprouted bread is a little healthier on the gut, and this one is absolutely delicious. Even my boys love it!
Slightly Coated Dark Chocolate Almonds: This is a new product, but is definitely a favorite. The almonds are coated in the perfect amount of dark chocolate in order to make them a deliciously sweet and salty snack.
Chili & Lime Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips: If you’ve spent any time on TikTok, then you may know that people are obsessed with these chips. They are Trader Joe’s version of Takis, and they are absolutely delicious. They sell out regularly, so if you can find them, I highly recommend stocking up on a few bags!
