Say “hello” to your new favorite cocktail! This is The Jalisco 25 Cocktail, a tequila-infused riff off of the classic French 75. Made with just a few simple ingredients – Tequila, Prosecco, lemon juice, and simple syrup – and garnished with a classic lemon twist, this cocktail proves that simple is anything but boring.
Friends, if you’ve been to my blog before, then you’ll know that I love a good cocktail recipe. Whether I’m hosting happy hour at home, or just looking for an easy way to unwind at the end of a long work day, there is something about a better-for-you, homemade cocktail that does the trick, every time. Plus, being able to enjoy a cocktail from the comfort of your own home, and at a fraction of the price of going out? I truly can’t think of anything better. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, a single cocktail can go for up to $20. For the same price, you can make multiple of these cocktails to enjoy throughout the week. Oh, and you can make them exactly to your liking. What could be better than that?
Truth be told, up until recently, I had never heard of a Jalisco 25. But, once my friends at LALO (aka the makers of my favorite tequila) introduced me to it, I’ve been hooked! It’s a riff off of the classic French 75, but instead of being made with gin, it’s made with tequila. And, as someone who loves a good margarita, I can’t pass up a good tequila cocktail!
If you’re unfamiliar with the classic French 75, it’s made from a combination of Gin, Prosecco, lemon juice, simple syrup, and is garnished with a delicate lemon twist. Why was it called a French 75? Well, according to the man who invented it, it had such a kick that it felt like being hit with a 75mm gun. While I can’t attest to that personally, what I can say is that this drink is the perfect combination of sweet, sour, and sparkling. Run, don’t walk, to your kitchen, make this drink, and thank me later!
Making this drink is so simple and easy! To make this cocktail, add the tequila, fresh lemon juice, and simply syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Place the lid on the cocktail shaker and shake until fully combined and chilled.
Once the cocktail is done, strain it into a fluted glass. Then, top the rest of the glass with the Prosecco. Garnish the rim of the glass with a lemon twist, then serve and enjoy!
If you’re sober-curious, taking part in dry January, or just want to lay off the alcohol for a bit (I totally get it!) you can easily make this cocktail alcohol-free for a fun drink.
Simply swap out the Tequila for tonic water and make the recipe as directed, leaving out the Prosecco and filling the glass to the top. For that striking bubbly twist, simple stir in a rock candy swizzle stick. Don’t knock it until you try it – the rock candy mimics the bubbly nature of the Prosecco, and adds a beautiful and fun twist to this drink! I get mine on Amazon.
