Friends, is there anything better than fresh chips and salsa? And I’m not just talking about any ole chips and salsa… but the delicious, homemade kind that you’ll find at authentic Mexican restaurants. If you know, then you KNOW – homemade chips and salsa just hits different, and is one of the most delicious snacks on earth.
But let’s be honest, making homemade salsa is often a labor of love. And, it isn’t exactly practical (or cost-effective) to go and get fresh chips and salsa from your local Mexican restaurant every time the cravings hit. I knew there had to be a better way, and I am so excited to say that there IS.
Introducing… blender salsa. If you haven’t heard of blender salsa, then let me be the first to tell you that it’s exactly how it sounds. A quick, easy, delicious, and flavorful salsa made right in a blender, from just a few simple ingredients. It’s perfect to eat with your favorite tortilla chips or cut veggies, or served alongside your favorite Mexican-inspired dish, like Street Corn Tostadas, Burrito Casserole, or Healthy Chicken Enchiladas!
What You Need to Make the Simplest Salsa Recipe
Canned, Whole, Peeled Tomatoes: The key to making this salsa in a pinch? Using canned, whole, peeled tomatoes (with the juices, of course!) The San Marzano tomatoes are the absolute best for this salsa, in my opinion. But, you can also use fresh tomatoes if you prefer, in which case I recommend using Roma tomatoes!
Cilantro: Cilantro is a KEY ingredient in any salsa recipe, and the only semi-acceptable reason for omitting it is if you are one of the few people who has the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap – in which case, I am so sorry.
Red Onion: Fresh red onion also adds the best flavor to this salsa!
Jalapeños: If you like a little bit of heat, like I do, then chopped jalapeños are a must in this recipe. Just be sure to thoroughly remove the seeds first!
Garlic: I definitely recommend using fresh garlic cloves in this recipe.
Lime: A squeeze of lime adds the perfect amount of acidity, and what would salsa be without the lime?!
Sea Salt: A touch of sea salt is perfect for any salsa recipe!
Cumin: This is optional, but highly recommended. Cumin is THE perfect salsa seasoning, and really brings all of the flavors together!
Two Steps to Making This Simple & Easy Salsa
Would you believe me if I told you that this salsa comes together in only TWO simple and easy steps?! It’s true!
Simply add all of your ingredients to a blender and pulse for 20-30 seconds, until it it smooth with some texture.
